The SimplePilgrim-organised Pilgrimages

The SimplePilgrim will continue to offer some pilgrimages or spaces on pilgrimages, that have already been organised either speculatively, or by a Parish group.

At the present time, there are two "live"pilgrimages, both organised by Downside Abbey. The one to Fatima 21-26 July 2017 to participate in the Centenary Celebrations is fully booked, but we are trying to obtain additional hotel space. If you are interested, could you please contact us to register an interest.

There is still space on the pilgrimage to the Holy Land 21-30 July 2017 led by Fr. Anselm Brumwell, a Priest and Monk of Downside Abbey, and also a Theology Teacher at Downside School. This pilgrimage has been specifically designed for young adults between 18, and 30 years of age, who may, or may not, be practicing Catholics.

We will be visiting the most important Holy Christian places in Israel and the West Bank, together with some impressive archaeological sites. We will also spend a night out in the Negev Desert among the Bedouin, and experience the joy of camel riding! There will be lots of opportunities for exploring places on foot, swimming in the Jordan River, Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee, together with kayaking in the beautiful Banias Nature Reserve. Price will be dependent on numbers, and the cost of flights, but will not exceed £900. Downside has been able to secure this pilgrimage at a considerable discount on normal commercial rates. Any young people who are interested in joining the Pilgrimage, should let their Parish Priests know if they require financial assistance, as their Parish may be able to help with this.

Please see below for a sample itinerary of the 2014 pilgrimage "In the Footsteps of St Therese". Details of the already-organised Fatima and Holy Land pilgrimages can be found on those respective pages.
